Hi all, i just installed windows live messenger beta 8.1, decided to try it
coz my messenger 8.0 did not show all my contacts, and i could not add or
authorize pple in my contactlist.

Anyhow, just a question, normally in the previous messenger versions, in the
conversation window, there was, in addition to the emoticons, winks, and
background tabs, an extra tab for "packs" which allowed downloads and adverts
of free packs containing emoticons, winks and backgrounds. however, with the
beta 8.1, this option seems to have been disabled..is it supposed to be this
way?

Thanx!

Greetings,

Yes, a number of people who've noticed this. The packs are still there though, there just
isn't a specific button for them. Just go through the normal "More" link process to get to
the backgrounds or emoticons and when the web-like window appears, just scroll over to the
Packs tab and click that.
