Page is blank

Hi all,

We have a XP laptop with SP2. When we go to Windows Update, the page stays
blank and says "Done" on the status line. The address reads
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and doesn't change to v5...

We get the same result if we go to www.microsoft.com and click on the
windows update link. We searched the KBs and couldn't find anything.

Does anybody know what is going on?

1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Options, click Connections, click LAN
Settings. Uncheck "Automatically Detect Settings" and "Use Automatic configuration script"

2. Also in the Internet Options, under "Temporary Internet Files", click the "Delete Files"
button, check the box, "Delete all offline content", "OK". After it finishes, click the
"Settings" button and lower the amount of disk space to use to 10 Meg. Click "OK", "Apply".
That will increase your hard drive space by how much was in that folder. I've seen it well over
a gig. Folders that big are prone to crosslinked files. Clear it weekly, or sooner, especially
if IE starts acting funny. You can automate the process by clicking the "Advanced" tab, scroll
down to "Security", and check the box, "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is
closed", click "Apply", "OK"

Thanks for answering.

We did all this and also re-registered the dlls. As it turned out the script
engine was corrupt. After re-installing 5.6 everything worked fine.
