Always state your full Windows version (e.g., Win98SE; WinXP SP1; WinXP SP3)
as well as your IE version when posting in an IE-specific forum or
newsgroup. Please do so in your next reply.

Was your Norton subscription still current when you "deleted" it?

Did you run the Norton Removal Tool?

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039

Switching from Norton to McAfee is "out of the frying pan and into the
fire".

Last time I saw that on a PC it's DNS settings had been hijacked, and there
was malware on the machine. All links to download.microsoft.com were
directed to an IP address that does not exist in order to try to reduce the
chance of the PC user from removing the malware. It might be worth you
getting some decent malware scanners (most AV scanners will not find these
apps as they are not a virus) such as Malwarebytes and scanning your system
thoroughly.
