I checked my Vista page file and it says I have one @ 3694 MB I tried to change it to the recommended setting of 4986
MB but it didn't do it after I rebooted. It stayed at the 3694 MB setting.

Can someone help me on this?

why not change it to system managed and leave it alone.
the OS knows more about what it needs than we do.

That is exactly what I did BUT the system recommends I increase the size from 3694 to 4986 MB.
Who do I believe Vista settings or Vista recommendations?

Recommended? By whom?

In general, I'd suggest letting Vista manage the pagefile on it's own,
unless you have a specific problem.

Whoever you want, they are both making general guesses.

Recommended by Vista in the System Properties\Advanced\Performance Options\Change\Virtual Memory.

if you have it System Managed and click the SET button, then Vista controls it and adjusts it as needed.
I see the information you are referring to. I would imagine that would mean if you manually restricted the size by using the MIN and Recommended settings found there.

Interesting -- I've never seen Vista recommend a larger value then it
will accept...

Either way, why not just leave it at system managed and forget about it?
