Partial Service Pack 1?

I just loaded WinXP Professional, and updated with
Service Pack 1. However, when I did this, my usb ports
stopped working. I reinstalled WinXP Professional, and
have not yet downloaded Service Pack 1 because of the USB
2.0 update included in it. How can I do a partial
download of it to not include the USB 2.0 update? Better
yet, how can I make USB 2.0 work on my computer?

First of all skip SP-1 and install SP-2:

If you have the issues again open Device Manager and delete the items
under Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
Reboot and follow the prompts as they are detected.
That will do it and is a lot simpler than a reload.
