Sometimes, when deleting a file, I get the message "disk is write protected"
and deleting is impossible. After a restart of the system it looks as an
onther partition is writed protected.
I am using Vista 64 bit and 2x 250 Gb disk in Raid0 configuration (JS363raid
om ASUS P5B motherboard).

Any idea what is going on??
Help is very much appreciated.

Gert

Hi!

I have the same issue.

I have Vista64bit on 2x250GB WD HDD, RAID 0 configuration. 3 Partitions
(C-System, D and E).

My D and E partitions is aleatory write-protected and after restart
sometimes i can modify files on them.
Temporary solution is that i have to uninstall my HDD from Device
Manager, and after next restart my D and E partitions works normaly. Or
I have to start CMD with Administrator rights, and, on each partiton
with write-protection problem, I have to run command:

chkdsk /f

and rerun this command till I see that the partition is fully checked
from errors.

E:\>chkdsk /f

Cannot lock current drive.
Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write
protected.
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Chkdsk may run if this volume is dismounted first.
ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID.
Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (Y/N) y
Volume dismounted. All opened handles to this volume are now invalid.
Volume label is New Volume.

if I get the:
An unspecified error occurred. index entries processed)
error, I just run againd and again the same command till I get:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems.

This works without restarting the system.

I have this issue from december 2007, when I changed my OS from Vista32
to Vista64 and nobody answer me with the right solution, neither
microsoft on their forums.

I have Gigabyte motherboard GA965-DS3 rev.1 and 2x250GB Western Digital
HDDs with RAID 0 (striped).

Is very annoying this Vista with his write-protection thing.

Sorry for my bad english!
