If the C: drive takes up the whole of your hard drive, which I am assuming
it does, then to get two partitions you need to shrink the C: drive to the
required size to give you unallocated space after the C: partition to enable
you to create a new partition.
This can be done from Vista disk management console (Control
panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>disk management It is a case
of right clicking on the C: drive and selecting 'shrink' from the context
menu. The only 'caveat' is that the shrink option is very temperamental. For
this reason I much prefer to use third party partitioning tools such as
Acronis Disk Director or Paragon hard disk manager suite 2008. These third
party application, although not free, are far more reliable.
