Password change and reset disk

have read that if I change my Vista password then the password reset
disk does not have to be remade.

Is this correct, after all the password has been changed?

I think the ideal of the reset disk is if you forget what the password is -
so obviously it prevents you getting into Vista.

Otherwise, you're right, you can change the password in the normal way
through the User Accounts option.

But, if I change the password, do I need to make another reset disk?

You do not need to make a new password reset disk.
If you do make a new password reset disk then the previous one is now longer
usefull.

From what I've read, I am sure that you are correct.

Please can you explain why I don not need to make a new reset disk
when I change my password.

Well, that is just the way MS designed it. The password reset disk pertains
to the ACCOUNT not to the account's Password and as such doesn't care what
the password is or if it has changed.. Note that you can also reset the
password for any account from any administrator account. Also note that 'in
the beginning' the only reset disk allowed was a floppy disk. With many
machines now no longer having a floppy that was a problem. Now you can save
to more devices so lack of a floppy drive is not such a problem.
(I use a memory card from a camera).

It sounds like the passowed reset disk that I made (on a floppy) will
simply let me back into the account (admin) and allow me to create
another password.
