I just put a password on my account so I could log in with remote
desktop, that's all working fine. But now when I come out of sleep
mode it asks me to enter my password. Is there a way to stop this?

See if the following steps help:
1. Click "Start" | "Control Panel" menu item.
2. Launch "Power Options" applet.
3. Click "Change plan settings" under the selected plan.
4. Click "Change advanced power settings" link.
5. Click "Change settings that are currently unavailable" link and go past
the UAC prompt.
6. Change "Additional settings" | "Require a password on wakeup" settings to
"No".
7. Click OK button.

Hello Steve,

This can help show you how to stop the password protection at wakeup.
