Password issue after downloading updates

After downloading and applying the current updates yesterday, Windows Mail
is no longer saving passwords for both my e-mail & Usenet accounts and IE is
not saving them for a large number of web sites where logging in is
required. I have the "save password" boxes checked in my account set-up and
also receive the pop-up about saving passwords in IE and I do select "yes".
Help please. I am using Vista Home Professional on a Dell Inspiron
notebook.
