I just installed and then reinstalled Live Messenger 2008 (Build
8.5.1302.1018) on my freshly formatted and installed Windows XP Pro sp3
system (no updates beyond that installed yet). What I'm seeing is when
I enter my password, no matter how long, short, or how correct it was,
when I click "Sign in", it converts it to eight asterisks and then comes
back with an incorrect password error. Any ideas on the cause and how I
can cure it? Thanks to all who respond!

Never mind. It would appear that the system is being balky today. It
finally signed me in after several dozen tries. Johnathon, I did try
your suggestion to try signing in at account.live.com, but my ID and
password worked perfectly there but not here. Strange.

Greetings,

Glad to hear it's corrected itself. However, just to be clear, the eight asterisks thing is
by design (so no one can guess your password just by the length).

LOL. I had by attention directed at the wrong problem source. Still
continuing to work however. Thanks.
