Password reset is not saved

I am using Vista Home Premium (32-bit) in a guest operating system (VMware;
host is Vista 64-bit).

I am receiving a Windows notification that my password is about to expire.
Even though I change and save the password successfully, the next time that
I log on I receive the same message. And , I have to go back to the
original password, since the one that I changed to is not recognized.

Any thoughts?

It sounds to me like you're not really changing the password, i.e., not
properly saving it.

Also, I believe there is a configuration item to tell Windows Vista to let
you keep your password & get off your case.

The procedure is pretty simple (so it says...). Once the new password has
been entered twice, the system comes back to tell me that the password has
been changed successfully. But, in fact, it hasn't been.

You're confusing me by signing your initials (~same as mine)...

I posted the reply because I wondered if there's some sort of final
confirmation step that you hadn't noticed, but I don't want to experiment
with password settings on my computer :-)

I suspect I'm just managing to be silly here.

Not a big deal. I'm sure that when my password expires in a couple of days
I'll find out what's going on.
