Your first question asked about password protecting applications within the
OS, not a function such as a screensaver which is pretty much obvious since
the option clearly exist to do so. If you want to Password protect your
computer on resume from a screensaver, right click the Desktop > click
Personalize > Screensaver > select your screensaver and tick the box that
says 'On resume, password protect.
