Have you tried the "Startup Repair" tool ? If not, I would try that
before reverting to an earlier restore point.
Microsoft has a walk-thru on how to use the Startup Repair Tool at the link
below.
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...351033.mspx#EU
You'll need to boot from the Windows Vista disc to use the tool.
If that fails somehow try this:
If Startup Repair fails to fix the problem, then boot from the Vista disc
again and use the "Syttem Restore" option to revert to a point before you
installed the updates that caused the problem.
If you are able to boot successfully, I would do the following to
troubleshoot the problem.
1. Using System Restore, create another restore point.
2. Run Windows update.
3. Instead of applying all the updates, do one at a time and reboot.
4. Keep doing this until you find the one that causes the system to fail.
Make a note of it so you can avoid this update in the future.
5. If it fails to boot again, boot from the Vista disc and use System
Restore to get everything working again.
