Im currently looking for a "windows update" solution for our Microsoft
environment.
We have approximatly 200 workstation/users and handfull of servers.

Im aware that SMS is the ideal solution, but I believe there are other
methods of performing
periodic system patches/updates to both servers and workstations. I also
have to take into
consideration that not all systems have interenet access, so ideally they
will update from a
central system.

If anyone can give me any advice that would be great.

WSUS

I disagree that 'SMS is the ideal solution' - especially since you seem to
be trying to push Microsoft updates/patches.

I agree .. SMS may not be the ideal solution WSUS sounds ideal, and I'm
assuming its free?

Well - with the link right there - I am unsure why there is any assuming
going on. heh

Seriously - it's freely available to you granted you meet the following
requirements:
a.. Windows Server 2003 SP1 or later
b.. IIS 6.0 or later
c.. Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
d.. Microsoft Management Console 3.0
e.. Microsoft Report Viewer
(All on one server.)

If you do not meet those requirements, perhaps WSUS 2.0 might be better
suited for you at this time:
