Patchs for new computers

Does anyone have any SUS\WSUS scripts for managing the patch management
proccess. I would like to setup an SUS or WSUS server for our staging bench
so we don't use all our banwidth. I would think this could be done by
modifying the WUSERVER registry entries. But I think my problem will be on
how to initiate the proccess as well as monitoring the proccess. If any one
has any ideas I would appreciate it.
