Pausing Live updates

I have a very slow internet connection (0bps - 50kbps though generally
between 10kbps and 30kbps) and I have been waiting for my updates to download
for the past 15hrs. Is it possible to stop the download and restart it later
without losing my progress? I'd hate to have to start all over again and I'm
concerned this may become a regular issue I will have.

Windows Update runs in the background downloading and will resume where it left off the
next time you connect to the internet. No need to worry about starting all over again.

When the updates have downloaded, you'll be notified to install the same.
