pc freezes when trying to get upgrades

Hi after uninstalling Office 2007 and going back to 2003 I can no longer get
any updates. The search starts ( green bar scrolling) then just sits trying
to find them. I get NO error messages and the pc freezes and the only way I
can get out of the updates page is to KILL the power on the pc. Any
suggestions please?

For a possible fix to this problem, please do BOTH of the following:

1. (not for Vista) Download and install update KB927891 version 3:
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891>
and then restart Windows.

2. For 32-bit systems, download and save to hard disk, and then install:
<http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe>

Then visit Microsoft Update again, and report back whether your problem is
fixed.

Hi thanks Robin did what you suggested and seems to have cured the problem,
have got all the updates that were available.

works great for me too! thanks for the help! this has been a
persistent error the last few days in our office network and now it is
working!
