PC hangs when trying to access Windows Update

Hi all, like everyone else here I tried to go to Windows Update to
install SP2, unfortunately, when I goto Windows Update, the browser
hangs when it is checking for available updates for my computer (it
has the green bar that goes back and forth across the screen).

The error message I got was 0x8DDD0009. Windows Update has
encountered an error and cannot display the requested page. Try
refreshing the page, clearing your Internet Explorer Temporary
Internet Files, closing and restarting Internet Explorer, or trying
Windows Update again later.

I have cleared out my Temporary Internet Files, and have tried to
access Windows Update about 7 times since SP2 came out.

To make matters worse, Microsoft doesn't have a Knowledge Base article
pertaining to this specific error message so I am out of options here.

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem please tell me.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi

You could try the steps in this post to try to get WU to work:

If nothing there worked, try the steps in this post:

If that didn't work either, and you have Windows XP SP2 installed,
check that the WuWebControlClass is enabled in Internet Explorer:
