Is there any way to get Windows Live Messenger to communicate with ichat on
a Mac? We both have webcams and neither of us really want another IM program
running on our computers.

I don't know how iChat works, but i know that iChat and WLMessenger run on
different protocols and platforms, so if you want to chat with someone else
through this way, you gotta get another client (program or application) or
you change to iChat, or (s)he changes to WLMessenger ((s)he can use Microsoft
Messenger for Mac, which use WL ID as common -it's the same platform).

Greetings,

Just to add, the current version of Messenger:Mac is here:
http://www.microsoft.com/Mac/products/messenger/

but it doesn't yet support video (but it will soon!)

Thank you. This comes down to how many Instant Messaging programs one wants
to have running on their machines at the same time. Unfortunately, my group
of friends are mostly on PC's and the other person's are mainly on Mac's.
She doesn't want to add Messenger for the Mac as I would be the only one to
communicate with and I really don't want to install AIM to only have her to
communicate with. I am trying to get her to install Skype for the Mac but so
far I am being met with resistance because she doesn't have much computing
power to start with and doesn't want to "dilute" it with the addition of
another IM program.

I guess that I will have to stick with the telephone for the time being.

Thanks to all who replied.
