PC stops responding

I am having a problem running some software (e.g., Acronis True Image 11).
What happens is this: the program starts to run OK, but then after a while,
it stops working and no other software appears to work either. In addition,
most of the shutdown options disappear from the Start Menu and I either have
to switch my PC off by the mains switch or if I leave it for a few minutes,
it usually reboots on its own.

Not a Vista Problem.

There are many signs Acronis True Image is promoted by crooks around here
who stage phony "spontaneous" users exaltations about their unsurpassed
software.

This is one of the weirdest things you've said and you've said quite a
few. You've got your dosages mixed up.

Contact Acronis for help with their program. Many of us use TI very
successfully but if you're having problems, Acronis tech support is
usually quite responsive.

Were you ever able to run this program? If yes, what has changed?
Perhaps the issue isn't with Acronis, or even with other programs, but
something else we don't know about. What is the recent history of this
computer?

Here are some links that will help you with what details you need to
include in your next post so you can get focused troubleshooting advice:

He's just been hanging out with Frank too long and starting to pick up some
of his insanity. Most of what AlexB has to say is weird. Haven't you
noticed? :-)

Cheers.

If it's an Acronis problem, it might be solved by uninstalling and
reinstalling Acronis. Be sure to completely uninstall it first (see first
tutorial). If it's not an Acronis problem, consider your Repair Vista
Options (see second tutorial).
