Hello - I forgot to turn off sleep when I scheduled a disk check, so my
eMachine T5234 went to sleep interrupting DKSCHK. Wouldn't wake up or
restart past the boot screen. Tried Start up repair from OS disk, only got
an error message about poss. device in USB (not) so I did Last Good Config in
safe mode and it started. I wanted to see if there was any damage (I
understand from a friend who had the same thing happen that it goes into "a
loop" when trying to wake during diskcheck), so I did a full DSKCHK with
repair which was slower than normal but clean. I then system restored to
before the DSKCHK to delete corrupt files. Then I did a System File check
sfc /scannow to fix any remaining bad system files. It id'd bad files which
could not be fixed, however when I attempt to view bad files edit
sfcdetails.txt it brings up an empty viewer which will not load file. I am
working from the lone MS tutorial on this
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929833 Does anyone know the
solution or whether I am following the right course for such a CHKDSK event?
Since I know I have OS file problems I feel I should replace those files, but
since performance is fine hopefully can take my time.
