PC won't run after recent updates

I installed the three latest updates to my Gateway 510 PC, Windows XP,
tonight. KB890830, KB941644, and KB943485. I restarted it like it told me to,
and now it doesn't get past the Windows screen that has the boot from CD or
something about bios. The tower is running constantly, like it is working or
the fan is running. I can't get into Safe Mode or anything, the keyboard
lights show only for a few seconds until the Windows screen shows, then it
won't work anymore. I tried to put my Windows CD in and use that, but I need
to use the keyboard to do that, and it won't work. I am wondering if I am
going to have to do a whole total restore, but how do I do that if my
keyboard won't work? Anyone have any clues as to what is going on? I think my
son deleted some of his programs today and don't know if he accidentally
deleted something that was needed, something that didn't take effect until
after the reboot. It was working fine before the updates and restart.
HELP!!!!! Or am I looking at a new computer, and he loses all his files (he
didn't back them up like I told him to numerous times, that is a 16 year old
for you)? Anyone's suggestions are greatly appreciated, I don't want to buy a
new computer right now if I don't have to. Thanks.

I just went back and tried to boot it again, and it is not the Windows screen
that it stops on, it is the Gateway screen that has the Boot Menu and Bios
Menu on it. Windows will not boot up at all.

Great news!! I was able to call Gateway and we figured out that the printer
was causing a problem with my computer. I unplugged the printer and it works
again. The guy told me that sometimes hardware will go bad, and a lot of time
it is the printer or something else connected to the computer. So, now I just
need a new printer, a lot cheaper than a new computer. So, my suggestion to
people having similar problems, unplug the printer and see if the computer
works then.
