Performance issue after resume from sleep/hibernate

When my Vista (Ultimate, SP1) PC resumes from sleep mode or hibernate,
it resumes OK but the CPU meter is high when idling (around 20% rather
than 5-10% as normal) and sound and video are jerky. This happens
every time my PC goes to sleep or hibernates.

The only solution I have found is to disable sleep/hibernate mode. But
this is not a long term solution.

Is this a known issue with some Vista installations? Is there a fix
short of re-installing Vista?

I haven't done any testing, but I have seen this problem with
hibernate (I don't use sleep). I usually endure it until I need a cup
of coffee, then I do a reboot while I get it.

Yet another Vista feature!

When my computer would go into sleep mode, it wouldn't wake the monitor back
up. Then sometimes the monitor would go into sleep mode by itself (in the
middle of whatever I'm doing!) Then I lost internet. I reinstalled Vista and
have not had any problems since.

Thanks, Vicki, but that's what I want to avoid (reinstalling Vista).

Vista's power management appears to be naughty.
