Looking under Performance Rating and Tools in Control Panel, I have three
Performance issues:
1. "Drivers are interfering with Windows resuming from sleep mode."
Details:
NVLDDMKM.sys
NVIDIA Compatible Windows 2000 Miniport Driver, Version 87.98
NVIDIA Corporation
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)
USBHUB.sys
Default Hub Driver for USB
Microsoft Corporation
American Power Conversion USB UPS
UPDATE.sys
Update Driver
Microsoft Corporation
Microcode Update Device
2. "Drivers are causing Windows to start slowly."
Details:
USBHUB.sys
Default Hub Driver for USB
Microsoft Corporation
FLPYDISK.sys
Floppy Driver
Microsoft Corporation
3. "Startup programs are causing Windows to start slowly."
Details:
IE4UINIT.exe
IE Per-User Initialization Utility
Microsoft Corporation
I'm not so concerned about the NVIDIA driver because I expect vendors to
take longer to resolve issues with their drivers right up to Vista's release
and beyond; however, the remainder of the issues are all MS drivers, which
concerns me even in a Beta.
In WinXP I used to run a program called Bootvis to identify and correct
issues that were slowing my system during startup and shutdown. This worked
very well as I ultimately got my startup time to under 30 seconds. However,
Bootvis does not work under Vista as far as I am able to tell (incorrect
libraries, I assume by the errors it gave me).
Anyone have any success addressing these issues or know of a Bootvis-like
app that works?
Thanks,
-Rob
