Windows Vista Business, purchased from Dell
I enter the Reliability and Performance monitor from the Administrative
Tools menu. Then I expand 'Monitoring Tools', and click on 'Performance
Monitor', then I click the big green add button.
Inside the add dialogue box you will find a list of categories, expanding
those categories reveals a list of counters, and you can add counters, so
that you can view the logging of those counters in graph form in the
Performance Monitor.
EXCEPT my list of counters, in ADD dialogue box is RIDICULOUS. It only
contains categories such as HTTP Service, and IPSecV4 etc.
Where are the standard categories of counter such as Memory, Disk, and
Processor? This is driving me CRAZY.
Other indications that all is not well are:
1) The Ctrl+I shortcut which should be the same as clicking the big green +
does not work
2) While you can always click the 'Reliability Monitor' (one of the two
items listed under the Monitoring Tools folder), the 'Performance Monitor'
will not open first time. You have to click Reliability Monitor first, and
then click on Performance Monitor. If you click Performance Monitor first you
will get a message that says "MMC cannot initialize the snap-in".
What is (or might be) going on??
