How to persist "Search Results" columns

I'd like to find a way to select which columns are shown in the search
results display, -and set it so that my choices persist until I change
them. -In particular, when I search from the root [ C:\ ] , it displays
the columns "artist", "genre", "album", etc... apparently as if I am
searching for music files. Of course, I can click on the column heading
and select the columns I'd like to see, after the search finishes. But
it won't remember my column selections next time. Help???
