Philips SHM3100 headset for Windows live messanger problem

Hi

I have just tried 2 (!) brand new Philips SHM3100 headsets, as it was
advertised that they are compatible with Windows Live Messanger.

As the first headset microphone did not work, I bought another one and test
that one. Both headsets microphones do not work at all.

Has anyone had the same problem or knows how to check and fix this? Is it a
problem in the PC itself, perhaps?

Thanks and hope someone can help.
