Picture It on Vista?

I just got Vista so I'm very new at all of this.
On my old computer with XP I used Microsoft Picture It! 10. I really like
that program so I saaved it to my jumpdrive and then tried to use it on Vista
but it doesn't work.

Does anyone know of a way that I can get it to work or it it a lost cause?

Thanks!

Transferring the files from one system
to another will not work...you must have
the install disks.

And...FWIW...I've seen reports that some
users have issues when running Ver:10
on Vista.

Your best bet would be MS Digital Image
Suite 2006 or MS Digital Image Suite
Anniversary Edition.

There's a 60 day trial version available for
download if you would like to give it a try:

Microsoft Digital Image
Starter Edition 2006
http://tinyurl.com/28loxr
(this product line has been
discontinued but you can still
down-load the Starter Version
and run it for 60 days)

Unlike the retail version...the trial does not
have the ability to create VCDs and it does
not include the clipart and pre-formatted
projects.

How could that possibly work. What exactly did you save to the 'jumpdrive'?

Lost cause on several fronts.

First you cannot simply copy a program to a removable drive and "move" it to
a new computer. You'd need to reinstall it on the new computer from the
original CD, DVD or download.

Second, PictureIt is no longer supported by Microsoft, so it's unlikely it
will be updated for Vista. If you have the install CD you could try it but
I don't think seven year old technology is going to work. But it might.

How about a stand alone program like WSFTP_95?

I personally have used both Microsoft Picture It! 10 and Microsoft Digital
Image 10 and both haven't caused me any problems on Vista.

This is not necessarily true. For large apps, this is usually the case, but
for smaller programs and utilities, there's a good chance yo ucould just
copy it over.

Eudora is one program that you can just copy from one location to another
and it works, with the only caveat being if you installed it to keep the
data in a different directory, OTHER than under the install folder, you
would then need to either keep the email data there in the same path, or
import it back into Eudora. WinISO & DUMeter are another 2 programs that
can just be copied somewhere.

It's many of the smaller apps that this can be done with.

I haven't done that with WSFTP95, but my guess is this one could be copied
over somewhere and work fine.

Huh? I don't understand the WSFTP_95 suggestion. You can't move
applications just by copying files...via a flash drive, CD, or FTP...it
doesn't matter. Those days are long gone.

Maybe I'm not understanding your suggestion...please elaborate.

Tim

I know for a fact that it works fine if the folder is just copied and
pasted.
