Pin Document to Start Menu

I'm trying to Pin an MSAccess db to the Start Menu which I can but,
I'm can't rename it because it renames the actual file.
Anyone know how this can be done.

Thats normal. If don't want that make a copy of the Microsoft Office Access
executable in the Microsoft Office group then name Microsoft Office Access
JJ, then pin that one to the Start Menu and rename if you don't want to mess
with the original one.

How do I make a shortcut of the executable in the same folder?
It only allows me to create a shortcut to the desktop.

Go ahead and let it make the shortcut on the desktop, then rename it to
what you like and move it back the the same folder. It's one of Vista's
security features. Just about averything must be placed on the desktop
or in a Personal User folder before it can be allowed to be moved to
another location.

Right click the Windows Vista Start Menu button > click Explore All Users >
Programs > Microsoft Office > right click Microsoft Office Access > click
Copy > right click again > then click Paste. Rename that copy of the icon
Office Access JJ for example. Close the window > go to All Programs >
Microsoft Office > right click Office Access JJ and click Pin to Start menu.

Here's an alternative to answers you've already gotten.
Create a shortcut to the document. Rename the shortcut anything you want.
Then drag the shortcut to the area of the start menu where things are
pinned. You now have a shortcut bearing whatever name you want linked to the
db.

However: As best I can tell, the start menu item is a shortcut to the
shortcut. It is not a direct shortcut to the doument. It still opens the
document, but it means that if you delete the first shortcut you made (NOT
the one on the start menu) then the one on the start menu no longer opens
the document.

So when you create the first shortcut, you should put it in a folder that's
out of the way, rather than, say, placing the original shortcut on your
desktop where it will take up space. Because if you delete it from the
desktop, the one pinned to the start menu becomes a dead link.

I don't know if you want to go through all that trouble, but it is an
alternative to the other methods. Maybe others can see a way to improve on
my method or see something I'm missing.
