Greetings,
Key ports are the "key" (as in essential) outgoing networking ports Messenger uses to
communicate. For example port 1863 (the specific port Microsoft has always used to connect
to the actual Messenger service) and port 443 (standard SSL for authentication with
Passport/Windows Live ID).
The router could be blocking them temporarily for some reason and the repair just tries
again.
