There is a user in foreign newsgroup that is asking the following question below
about Live Messenger. Since I know nothing about messenger maybe you can direct him.

Q: Where are the Smiley's located in Windows Live Messenger. I needed to reformat
and I do not seem to find them again. All of our family wants them back Can you

Hi,

Thanks for the redirect. In Windows XP, they'll be found in the following location and you
can just copy them to back them up and copy them back to the same folder after you reinstall.

Note that these folders are localized, so it won't be this exact folder listed here.

\Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\LiveID\ObjectStore\Custom Emoticons.

Where username is your Windows username and LiveID is your Windows Live ID e-mail address.

Additionally, some of these folders will be hidden by default, to see them simply press the
Alt key on the keyboard in any Windows Explorer window to bring up the toolbar, click Tools,
then Folder Options, then the View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'.
After click OK, they should appear with the other folders.

Hungarian Read Speak Write
German Read Speak Write
Russian Read Speak
Afrikaans Read Speak

I think that is enough. Kind of mixed them up and together when I want to say
something fast. LOL
