Ping...... Ken Blake

Recently you answered a question about 32bit or 64 bit and I thought of a
question maybe you could answer....

Would Vista Business 64bit with certified
drivers possibly run quicker than a 32bit version running its own drivers
??...I am currently running Vista Business 32bit and not having any problems
but
I am curious as to the possible benefit of switching,,I do have Vista
business 64bit
as well as all drivers that I need are available....Thanks for any help

Another question would be if I held off on installing my 64bit for let's say
3yrs (allowing for possibly more software)
Do you think there would be a problem switching and reactivating at that
time ??

Twin 160gig Sata drives in a raid0 format
2 DVD burners and 1 rom
Dell 2407WFP 24" flat panel
Logitech Z 5300 E 5.1 system
Logitech MX1000 laser mouse
Saitek's Eclipse keyboard
Hp 3600n laser printer
I have both the 32bit and 64bit versions of Vista Business

As I said I have been running this since Jan 31st with no problems except I
wish it was a little quicker...All my games seem to do very well on this
system,,,smooth and no glitches

You're too far ahead of the curve. About the only advantage is you'll
get to use all your memory. Aside from that even if all your
applications run 64 bit most software and a lot of hardware isn't
really tuned to 64 bit yet and isn't a priority so in effect things
could be slower. It really depends on what hardware and software you
got. If it ain't broke, why try to "fix" it? If things run ok under 32
bit leave well enough alone for now.

Adam..I appreciate your response....Curiosity is probably what drives the
inquiry....There is an expression that I believe is wrong and that is speed
kills !! I think slow kills and speed is a good thing.....Thanks again

I think Adam summed it up pretty well. First off you need to have a 64 bit processor. Secondly most if not all software that you are running will really not make that much of a difference since most software's do not have the appropriate 64 bit drivers yet. I would at this time still hold off on installing the 64 bit system and wait a while as to how everything that is connected with it evolves.

I think the potential benefit of using 64-bit Windows at this time is
minuscule, *unless* you have a particular 64-bit application that you
want to run.
