Is there some reason why Microsoft didn't have the Security Center Icon
automatically created on the desktop? I just cleaned up a neighbor's XP
Home PC that's only a few months old. They are on dial-up and had numerous
viruses and a couple of backdoor trojans.

Not one critical XP SP1 update was installed. I used their restore disks
and then loaded SP 2 onto their computer, then showed them the Security
Center and placed the icon on the desktop. I told them they should check
the status of their Automatic Updates, Firewall and Anti-virus program once
a week.

It seems the Security Center is ideal for noobs, and yet, most noobs
wouldn't be able to even find it. Can this be addressed in the next patch
on Windows Update?

Thanks
Joe

Joe 727,

Simple solution : Put a shortcut on the Desktop to the Security
Center applet located in the Control Panel.

Yes, it's simple if you know where to look for it in the first place which
is my point.
