Player will Rip but won't Burn

I have had to factory reset my OS (XP Home - SP3) after crash and have
re-installed all Windows updates etc. Before my OS reset, my older version
of WMD was able to rip and burn but Version 11 of the player (11.0.5721.5268)
will only Rip music to Library. Tools/Options/Devices show my DVD and CD
Drives but when I put blank CD in either drive it does not detect it and ask
for blank disc to be inserted! I can burn disc ok with Roxio Easy Media
Creator on both drives and I also have Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 uploaded
(awaiting test). Any (simple)suggestions on how to fix this.
