playing music causes skipping & lockups

Here's something strange and I'm baffled. My stepdaughters computer skips
sound and locks up when playing loud Rock music. When playing other types of
music it is fine. I changed her audio drivers from Microsoft to Dell drivers
and that fixed most music but it still happens when playing Rock music.
Anyone got any ideas? The hardware diagnostics says the device is working
properly. She has Vista Home Premium with SP2.

No guarantees but if the music source is
a CD try the following steps...

Open WMP and go to...Tools / Options /
Devices tab / select the drive that contains
the CD / Properties tab...check the box...
'Use Error Correction' / Apply / OK.

What happens if you turn the volume down on Rock music ?

It only does it when the volume is at full. This happens on CD's and songs
from hard drive and external hard drive.
