I installed the service updates from Microsoft and now I have video problems.
I cannot record or watch TV anymore. I have ATI Multimedia Center v. 9.06
(most current).

In my installation history for Windows Update, I see I have installed
updates for:
*ATI Technologies, Inc - Video - ATI WDM TV Tuner
*ATI Technologies, Inc - Video - ATM WDM Specialized PCD Codec
*ATI Technologies, Inc - Video - ATI WDM Rage Theater Audio
*ATI Technologies, Inc - Video - ATI WDM Rage Theater Audio
*ATI Technologies, Inc - Video - ATI WDM TV Audio Crossbar
*ATI Technologies, Inc - Video - ATI WDM Specialized MVD Codec

When in device manager, it lists the AUDIO CROSSBAR as having a problem. I
attempted to roll back the driver, then rebooted. When I attempted to start
my TV, the computer auto-rebooted. It did this consistently. When I updated
the driver again to the newest version, the computer did not auto-restart,
but I get an error when attempting to watch TV, stating "The TV Tuner did not
initialize properly".

I ran diagnotistics from within the TV program and the error messages are:

FAILED
**"Capture driver is not loaded nor enumerated by the de..." (I cannot
expand to view the rest of the error message.
**"ATI Rage Theater Video Capture"

WARNING
Available MPEG Decoders:
(decoders displayed in order of merit)
1) Name: 'Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder'
MPEG decoder supports DXVA:0
2) Name: 'ATI MPEG Video Decoder'
MPEG decoder supports DVXA:1
Hard Drive: Maxtor 4D080h4
DMA for Hard Drive operation may not be enabled.

When I try to go into the Settings area of the Multimedia Center, it freezes
on the "Video" tab and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to get out of it.

Rebooting does nothing.

What happened and how can I get my video working again?? Thank you.

Go here and go to #6
http://www.showshifter.com/support/c..._aiwRadeon.htm Download the
Uninstaller.
Use it to remove all the ATI drivers. Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove
Programs and remove any ATI stuff in
there. Once they are all removed restart and then reinstall all the
original ATI drivers.

Thank you.

I wish I had never installed any updates from Microsoft. My internet
connection is now sketchy and can only access about 30% of the sites I try.

I managed to download the new drivers but each installation results in a
"DLL Function Crash" error message. I have been at this for four hours now.

I give up.

My original installation disk doesn't work with WinXP SP2.

I reformatted two weeks ago and downloaded the drivers from ATI's website
and installed them with no problems at that time. I NEVER had the issues I'm
having now.

I was able to delete the original drivers, but of course can't reinstall.
Updating has no effect.

The ATI drivers sent by Microsoft can not be removed by any of the removal
tools I have found so far. These drivers do NOT work with ATI hardware but
can not be removed as far as I can tell.

You can go into the device manager, expand sound, video... you will see
several ATI devices. Pick one and select update driver. Choose install from
list, then select Don't serach... Then when you see the list unselect show
compatible hardware. You will now see two drivers with the same name.
Choose the second one. Now go back and do the same for the rest of the ATI
devices.

This will get most of your stuff working. I am still trying to get
scheduled recording working again.

Don
