Please Help! I cannot install Service Pack 4 for Windows 2000 Pro.

Hello Everybody!

I hope you can help me out here...
I can't install Service Pack 4 for Windows 2000 Pro and the message I get is:
"The file C:\WINNT\System32\tapi3.dll is open or in use by another
application. Close all other applications and then click Retry"
And of course I did close all applications/programs that were running
including Antivirus software, firewall, etc. but I still get the same message
when trying to install service pack 4 (I tried about 10 times). I have no
idea how to disable the program/application that uses this file...
Please share any suggestions...Thank you!

Try running a virus check in safe mode run it abiut three times . Then run
a goodspy-ware checker. Like Spysweeper etc. run it threee times in safe mode
as well

Hi Ron,

I ran both in Safe Mode - exactly they way you said but unfortunately I got
the same message and was not able to install SP4...Thanks for your
suggestion...
