Please help me with Windows Update

Shortly after I installed Service Pack 3 for XP, I started having problems
with Windows Update. It won't successfully install any updates. The following
are the ones that currently aren't installing:

KB950760
KB928365
KB950762
KB951698
KB890830
KB950759
KB951376

My computer is experiencing other problems, but I won't post them here as
this forum is for Windows Update. If I recall correctly, I seemed to start
having problems both with Update and in general *immediately* after I
installed some software for my Sony Ericsson phone. I have uninstalled it but
it makes no difference. The Sony Ericsson software installed included a
version of .NET, as far as I know there was no .NET software on my computer
previously and I wonder if this may be where the problem lies?

Aside from that these problems are happening on a computer where I installed
a new 500 GB IDE hard drive onto a 6 year old Dell motherboard, which also
may be the source of some problems, though I think not the update problems.

Can anyone help please?

Do you do a clean or repair install of WinXP before you installed WinXP SP3?

DId you install WinXP SP3 via Windows Update or manually?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What
anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall
(if any)? Were any of these applications running when you installed SP3?

It was a clean install of Windows XP, on the new hard drive. I installed SP3
via Windows Update. I use AVG, Spybot and Ad-Aware in addition to Windows
Firewall, no third party firewall. I'm not entirely sure if these were
running when I installed Service Pack 3 but it is more than likely, I assume
a message came up telling me to exit all programs and I didn't even think how
those were likely running in the background.

@blaurita:

CrystalBall© sez...

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

NB: Also applies to clean installs, upgrade installs, and Recovery installs.
