I have received the bluescreen at least 20 times. Although I don'
record the details each time, they appear to be different each time.
thought it was just a faulty laptop so I returned it and was given a ne
one and I am still getting the bluescreen. It usually appears after
install new software (installed printer) however I can receive upo
startup as well

I recorded the details twice
*First Details

Hi, scheung.

When we hear that BSODs "appear to be different each time", it almost always
means problems with hardware, not software - although the hardware problem
might be a faulty driver. Getting the same problems with a second new
machine is rare. That would SEEM to rule out hardware, but maybe not.

What is the make and model of your new laptop? And your printer?

> OS Version 6_0_6001
> Service Pack 1_0

At this late date, I would expect new machines to be delivered with SP 2.0
installed. Maybe this is old stock that has been sitting on the shelf for a
while. Or returned by a previous customer?

You might need to return it to the dealer for a third new machine.

Thanks for the reply R.C
I bought the laptop from Future Shop. The replacement laptop the
provided may very well be a return from a previous customer as well. I
was replaced about 6 months ago
Another odd observation is that I have only received the BSOD once a
work (just this morning). All other times have been at home

I have the HP Pavilion dv6000 and the printer is Canon MP510

Hope this helps and thanks again for the response

It does look rather like a software error.

BC Code 3B is SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
"This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that
transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code. "

Parameter 1 (The exception that caused the bug check) is C0000005 : access
violation

BC Code c5 is DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL
"This indicates that the system attempted to access invalid memory ... "

This can be because of various reasons, from a buggy driver to malware to
corruption
of system files, or - perhaps indeed a memory or other hardware error.

Hi, Sharleen.

In my first post, I typed a question about the computer environment, then
deleted it because a laptop is portable, by definition, so the environment
changes often. But perhaps you run on battery at work and then plug in when
you get home? Or you don't have air conditioning at home so the computer
gets much hotter? Or some other such small but significant difference?

I'm not a techie, so I'm glad Pavel interpreted that Stop Code for us. As
he said, it may indicate faulty memory (which fits my "hardware" theory) or
a driver.

Well, 6 months ago SP1 was current. But your Vista should have been updated
to SP2 by now, either by the shop or by you. It's not likely that this will
cure your BSOD, but it is always a good idea to stay current with Service
Packs and other updates.

Thanks PA.

Is there anything I can do to fix the problem so I don't receive the
BSOD anymore?

Go the website of the computer manufacturer and download all the drivers:
chipset, audio, video, network, anything relevant.
Reinstall all these drivers and see if that solves your issues.
Laptop overheating is also a big cause of random BSODs so it may also
behoove you to try a laptop cooler.
