please help: pop3 connector does not deliver mails

hello, i have trouble with sbs2003 server and exchange. everything was
working fine about 3 years (until last week problem occured). i searched for
any help on internet but still can not solve.

my problem is with pop3 connector. it recieves mails from isp but does not
deliver to the user mailboxes. event log reports 1060,1061 and 1062 errors.
(error id 1060 is talking about smtp server does not working, but exchange
can send-recieve mails between inside users)

what am i missing? please help...

Are there any other errors in the event logs?

And make sure your antivirus software on the server is not scanning the
/exchsrvr folder either in real time or scheduled scan.

thank you for your reply, i did everything step by step in that ms article,
but unsuccessfull to register dll files.
regsvr32 returns with DllRegisterServer error, and can not register three
files. (Inetres.dll, Msdart.dll, Msoert2.dll)

i dont get any other errors in event log except 1060, 1061,1062.

new emails are coming to "...\POP3\Incoming Mail" folder, but system cannot
deliver.

if i manualy cut and paste to exchange pickup folder, users recieve mails.

note: i am having this problem for 3 days, last nigth i did all updates
including sp2. i mean server has all updates now.

any solution ideas?

If you removed the earliest message from the Incoming folder and then
restart the POP3 Connector service, do the remaining messages get delivered
to the user's mailboxes? (I'm thinking along the lines of a malformed email
stopping the delivery process).

i empty incoming and failed mail folders.
i removed and reinstalled smtp service, then local mails dont work.
so i reinstall exchage .
local mails started to work. bur same pop3 connector errors logged in event
viewer.

pop3 can not deliver mails.

You might want to consider using a 3rd party POP3 connector that works more
stable then the MS one. Try POPcon (http://www.servolutions.com/popcon.htm),
they have a log file (popconsrv.log) that shows the full SMTP error string
and not just an error code in the eventlog.
