Hi, I am new to support forums, my PC is driving me to drink with so many
issues at once, and this is a 6mnth old PC! I don't know if I am to post all
at same time, so I am going to, you can correct me if this is wrong.

1) I get runtime error 217 ALLOT, I cant find anything to fix it.
2) when I use spaces (MSN), when I load photos using uploader I get a debug
error, when I follow prompts in the end it tells me there is no debugger for
it.
3) When I open my photo's file, I have ones full of my videos, if I open one
and click to view a video, all of windows closes down completly.
4) My Sleep wont work and when I put it on hibernate it never reopens, I
have to hard shut down the whole PC, then open it again.
There are many more but I will leave it here for now. If I am posting wrong,
please advise, it took me forever to just find this group. I will post my
email address if thats better with so many issues. THANK YOU. L

1. this is a newsgroup; no personal email replies.

2. You apparently have MANY errors. It is 6 months old; therefore under
Warranty

3.Take it back to the sellers.

WHO appointed you the NET cop? You have no right to say that. By the way,
aren't you the same guy who calls everyone a cockhead when you get angry?
Shouldn't someone be telling you: this is a newsgroup, no nasty comments?

Hello L,

If you are using a computer that you did not upgrade with OS, then you must
have a restore system option. Check your manuals. Either you have a CD/DVD
for restoring or it is there in a hard drive partition that you can use with
a special boot sequence. Again, your manual will help you.

Remember to take backup of your stuff to a writable DVD/CD or an external
hard drive before you attemp any such thing. Additionally, also remember
that once you restore the system in your original condition, you have to
upgrade the computer back with all the patch downloads from microsoft
update. That part is usuall done automatically without your intervention and
should be painless. You just need to restore your files again from your
backup.

One particular thing to pay attention to - backup your emails and internet
favorites saved in your browser. People usually get burnt on those items and
cannot find the inportant emails later if forgotten.

Cheers!

That was not helpful. I did ask to be told if this was not the right forum,
but then it would have been nice to have been pointed to the correct one.
Just taking it back before even trying to find out if there was a fix(s)
would have been silly. I run a home business and live in Northern Canada,
waiting weeks or longer for a replacement to be shipped is the LAST thing I
wanted to do, especially before even trying this.

Thanks so much,

This is a new HP Pavillion Media Cent, with Vista Prem. It didn't come with
any disc to install, I had to create one in the beginning to save. It really
sux to have to clear everything...sigh. I was praying it was a driver or
update issue....But them's the breaks I guess. I appreciate your time and
help allot. Have a great weekend, and again thank you. Sorry to have the
wrong forum, I must keep searching for the right one for the future.

Loretta,

A possible step before you reinstall.
Start orb
type cmd
in the top of the program list that results, right click the 'cmd.exe' line
select the 'Run as administrator' option
in the command window type
sfc /scannow

if it (System File Checker) reports any problems get back here and get some
additional help.

Also if you created a 'installation DVD' for your system following some
instructions that came with your system you should be able to do a 'repair'
installation. This will leave your personal stuff on the machine. You still
should do a backup of your documents email etc as suggested. If you do the
'repair' and still are messed up then the full blown 'reinstall' is about
the only hope.

This installation is different from a 'restore' there is probably a 'restore
partition' on your hard drive. Some function key (I think often it is F11)
can be pressed during the boot and the computer will be 'restored' back to
how it came from the manufacturer. You need to check your manual on this.
This is the fastest way to get your system back but you lose ALL your data,
just like the full installation plus you have all the garbage that the
manufacturer put on for advertisement trials etc.

There are a lot of good people here, also a few truly mental cases and then
some that get up on the wrong side sometimes but actually can help. Just
ignore the unhelpful ones, put them in your ignore list, and don't reply to
them, it only encourages bad behavior.

Hopefully you can get back up without having to lose your data, but your
system sounds in a condition where I would just start over also.

Laretta,

As an aside, I doubt that the comment about no email was meant to come out
as harsh as you took it.

In these newsgroups it is a really bad idea to use a real email address, the
various spammers scan all the newsgroups for email addresses and you can get
yourself on their lists real fast that way. So don't use your email address
and don't reveal others here in a newsgroup. Also the 'email address' you
used here in this newsgroup should be a dummy one. I noticed that you came
in from the Microsoft newsgroup web site where they provide some protection
for their addresses. My address of is invalid and
of no use to a spammer. By keeping the messages public rather than private
email others benefit from your problem and eventual solution.

I have noticed this "hot head" responding to many people using bad language.
The other poster is right. He needs anger management classes.
