Hello,
I have bought the real full genuine version of Windows Vista Home Premium
from my local computer shop, it came with the OEM sticker for my pc, the box
and a small inlay inside the box with a few activation instructions,
everything activated ok and worked. I haven't used my pc for about 3 weeks as
I have moved.
I went to the problem reports to find help with something that was crashing
to see under " Information about other problems "
"Upgrade to the latest retail version of Windows Vista"
Being confused, as I do ( or believed ) i had the full ( OEM ) version of
windows vista which set me back just under £100 i clicked on it and got:

"The problem was caused by Windows Vista, which is created by Microsoft
Corporation. You are running a beta version of Windows Vista, which is no
longer supported by Microsoft Corporation.

Recommendation

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For more information on how to upgrade to the retail version of Windows
Vista, go to the following website.

Microsoft Corporation

"

WHAT???
Under my system it tells me i am running windows vista 32bit and is all
activated.
Please help me, has the shop sold me a very realistic duff? When installing
it said it was windows vista, nothing about a beta,... this is the first i've
heard of it, the cd has the microsoft hollogram on and everything,... Could
this just be a mistake? I can still recieve windows updates.

Thankyou
Steve

Either the local computer shop misrepresented what they sold you - or the
problem report was just wrong.

Best way to check if you are running a beta version:
From the command prompt OR the run box, type "winver" and hit enter.
Be sure that it says "Version 6.0 (Build 6000)" on the second line. Any
number below 6000 for the build number is a beta copy.

Hi,

Seen this message myself, even though it was an RTM version. Run winver from
the search box, it should report version 6000. Anything else would be a beta
build, but I suspect it's not. Clue#2 is that you can receive Windows
Updates, as the beta builds no longer can.
