Two days of SP2 install aborting because of Permission being reset.
Each time I fix one and undo/redo everything and start over is about a
3 hour cycle time.
Redo is very painful because the regular Internet Explorer update
doesn't work, I think because
regsvr32 wuapi.dll gets an error and fails. I have not received
responses on forum posts regarding that failure.
There has been about 30 MIME types that failed, backup denied.
Fortunately on those I can fix and click ignore.
But on several other registry keys, where it is "delete" command, there
is no second chance. It is abort and undo the install, else exit and
don't undo. I have proved that is the 2nd option is the wrong choice.
How can I find the remaining registry keys that have been "protected" so
well, even against the administrator? Is there a way to reset them all
to "default", it that is useful?
I picked up this command in another forum:
Reset to default...
Start Run
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb
/verbose /areas REGKEYS
But I can't find "secedit.exe".
Is there another command on XP?
