Aaaah. Bickies in tea (dunka). The first solution on the page gave me back
what I was looking for. It appears to have reverted to an earlier point,
however - had installed an external (USB) Digital TV receiver, redone the
index as it said I had new hardware, and now it again said I had new
hardware, but I haven't. However, all now hunky dory. Be damned if I know
why that little switch fell over - never played with area in Vista; too much
to learn about the rest of the system first.
As for the printer, with the fact that after a number of hours it worked
almost like lightening, that would suggest that Vista and XP had a little
time trying to negotiate the access, and finally came to an agreement. Will
be most frustrating if cannot find a way to speed that process up.
