PnP - screen 60 Hertz?

Hi,

I do know that by a monitor the refresh freqency has to be as high as
possible with a minimum of 75 Hertz...

I have a portable PC with a PnP-screen where i can only put 60 Hertz ?

My questions:
-i suppose this is a TFT-screen so the pixels are on or out so there is no
refresh required?
-why is mentioned 60 Hertz ? Maybe because the SW can be used on a monitor,
but that is neverthess confusing.
-does this mean that the 60 Hertz has no meaning at all?

Check the manual for the PC and screen. I have a 22" wide-screen LCD
monitor, and the manual states that at 1680 x 1050 it should be at 60Hz.
Vista automatically sets it at that. XP automatically sets it at that. Linux
automatically sets it at that (yes, I have 3 computers through a KVM, not
having the table-top real estate to do otherwise). So it is not a Vista
specific thing. And yes, on my old style monitor before the LCD monitor it
would automatically set at 75 Hz or better.

An LCD monitor had no retrace - therefore has no flicker that is associated
with Hz. LCD monitors in the US default to 60 Hz. LCD monitors can run on
pure DC - as in your laptop when using batteries. I think the rating is a
holdover from the days of CRT monitors, where it was very important to know.

Thanks all,
Thanks for the technical information.
By now i can drop my bad fealing for sure.
Important is that i can prove my wife by now that working to long on my
laptop will do no harm (at least not for my eyes).

19'' Dell LCD Flat Panel Monitor 60 Hertz is recommended.
