Check the manual for the PC and screen. I have a 22" wide-screen LCD
monitor, and the manual states that at 1680 x 1050 it should be at 60Hz.
Vista automatically sets it at that. XP automatically sets it at that. Linux
automatically sets it at that (yes, I have 3 computers through a KVM, not
having the table-top real estate to do otherwise). So it is not a Vista
specific thing. And yes, on my old style monitor before the LCD monitor it
would automatically set at 75 Hz or better.
