Pointer disappears after screensaver comes back

Everytime I activate my notebook after the screensaver kicks in my pointer is
gone. When I move the mouse, I can see different sections of the screen
highlighted but the actual pointer is not visible.

I've checked several other discussion threads and haven't seen this exact
problem described.

I upgraded to Vista business from XP a few weeks ago and am on a Compaq
notebook with an AMD dual core processor.

I have to restart to get the pointer back. If anyone has a solution that
would be great. I've tried changing pointers and haven't had any luck. If
nothing else, I just want to bring this to Microsofts attention.

Thanks.

Try turning that screen saver off.

To do so right click on the desktop and chose Personalize then Screensavers.

looks like you need a better graphics driver...

Dear Don T,

Thank you for your post -- I've been going crazy trying to find help on this!

At least I know I'm not alone.

FYI - I have a Gateway MT6707 Laptop: Pentium dual core (T2060) with 2G RAM,
Intel 945GM Express chipset family graphic adapter (description From Device
Manager).

Have you found any other solutions other than turning off the screensaver or
upgrading the graphics card/board??

Thanks!

I don't know why, David, you're having the clash with the screensaver and
the pointer, and my only suggestion would be to change drivers for your
graphics card--either get a newer one or get another one. I don't know what
card you're using, but right now for most NVidias and ATIS there are many
many choices, and more every few weeks.

Good luck,

CH

Thanks Chad,

I guess I have to take it up with Gateway -- I tried loading the latest
driver from Intel, but it was rejected by the software with a message about
not being certified for my laptop. Gateway's latest driver is many months
behind.

Maybe someday...
