The second update, KB927891, is *NOT* for Vista, George. Sorry, I should
have noticed the OS was Vista x64 in the Subject line.
The correct link for x64 is
http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7...gent30-x64.exe
which is the same as Michel posted.
There is no updated .msi for Vista, as you've found out. It's possible
that there is data mismatch or corruption going on in the
WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution folder causing the slowness, since you've
stated that it appears after doing updates.
In order to clear the contents of said folder you will have to stop the
Automatic Updates service first via the Services console
Then delete all contents of SoftwareDistribution
Empty the Recycle Bin
Then reinstall the Windows Update Agent
There should be no need to restart, but there's no harm in doing so
