Single user/One Admin Account/System: 2007/ index score: 4.0/Vista/Hm/Prm

I set a password recently. I changed back to no password. Now I get prompted
by Defender warning--Basically: you should use a password...etc “. This
pop up must be disabled but I cannot find the option. Anyone?

Hi Dan,

Are you sure that it is not the Security Center giving you this pop-up?
If it is, then this will show you how to stop the alert pop-ups.

If you are sure it is Windows Defender, then this will show you how to
adjust the notification pop-up settings in it. I did not see one for
that though.

Hope this helps,

arny,
You gave me a "total disable solution". I am looking for "disable a single
security pop up". any advice?

I’ll Google the hell out of it and see happens. I gota gut feeling I opened
the worms by first using the password (the first time on the new Laptop). It
could mean that my Security Center is NOW aware and protecting this area of
the system. It is acting the way it is supposed to I'm sure. It’s a polite
message… "You should use a password for your safety", but I do not need to
see this every time I reboot.

Dan,

If you do not mind just having the security icon, you can pick the
option to "Don't notify me, but display the icon" instead.

You can go ahead and give your useraccount a password to stop the
message, then setup automatic logon. This way you can have security
alerts enabed without this pop up and not have to logon everytime you
start the computer. See:

Hope this helps,

i have to read things more slowly. i.e., (Not security center). your
information was useful and i linked that page you sent. Anyway, it was
Parental Control and i chose to enter a basic Password and it went away. my
search for an alternet failed. as it stands Vista Home Pre. worked like this:
if ou never use a password...you will never be prompted for one. But if you
enter one just as a test-like then remove it...the system will now remind you
"for your safty" to use a password if you want at each end of Boot-up.
Anyone that has Info to counter this ...Please respond.

Dan,

I'm glad you found the source of the problem. Thank you for the
feedback.
