what is a pop3 server?

what is a pop3 server? I do not know what they are asking for on HP photo
smart..... help please..... I need 2 blanks to fill in and I have no idea
what to fill the blanks in with.

Who provides your email service? Or to ask that question another way,
what is the part of your email address after the @ symbol?
